Elections

Available positions with the Brown Club of the United Kingdom (BCUK):

Co-president: 1 position opening (2-year term)

Treasurer: 1 position opening (2-year term)

Secretary: 1 position opening (1-year term)

Communications: 1 position opening (1-year term)

Young Alumni: 2 position openings (1-year term) 

Prerequisites:

Be a Brown grad who is interested, interesting, full of ideas and energy, enjoys engaging with fellow Brown alumni, likes to laugh, think, question, learn, and dedicate some time to enjoying living in the UK and spreading that enjoyment for others!

For the Co-President role you should have had at least some prior engagement with the BCUK or the Brown University community at large.

Key Dates:

Feb 23: Nominations close (nominate yourself or another worthy Brunonian) 

March 2: Voting begins. All BCUK members will receive an email with a unique voting link to allow anonymous voting. 

March 16: BCUK Annual General Meeting; election results announced. 

More information about each position (“roles & responsibilities”): 

Co-President

·         Respond to all inbound BCUK communication

·         Manage all outbound BCUK communication

·         Lead/advise on events and activities for Brown alumni in the UK

·         The two-year term includes a ‘break clause’ after the first year

Treasurer

·         Keep the accounts in good order

·         Process board members' applications for event funding

·         Submit yearly budget to Brown for funding

·         Maintain communication with Brown regarding programme funding

·         The two-year term includes a ‘break clause’ after the first year

Secretary

·         Create meeting agendas for board meetings (6 meetings a year, including Annual General Meeting in March)

·         Keep board meeting minutes

·         Distribute meeting agendas and notes

·         The two-year term includes a ‘break clause’ after the first year 

Communications (aka Media and Marketing)

·         Craft and send regular emails to the BCUK community

·         Brainstorm marketing ideas and activity

·         Coordinate event communication with committees, volunteers, and board members

·         One year term

Young Alumni Liaison

·         Represent young alumni interests

·         Organise events for young alumni

·         One year term

In order to submit a nomination, just email admin@brownuk.org and include the following information:

·         Name of Nominee 

·         Class year  

·         Concentration(s)

·         Photo of candidate (fun or serious…it’s up to you)

·         Position being sought
