Watched The Dig on Netflix and want to know more about archaeology?
Join us for a chat with the Joukowsky Insitute for Archaeology and the Ancient World: Pandemic In and Of Pandemics
Candace Rice and Tyler Franconi co-direct excavations of a Roman villa in Vacone, Italy. They will introduce their excavation project and discuss how its potential connection to an ancient pandemic led to Dr. Franconi’s Pandemics and Plagues in Antiquity series. They will also consider how the pandemic and travel restrictions have impacted the ability to do fieldwork, and what that has meant for graduate student and faculty research. Both speakers have D.Phil from the University of Oxford. They spent time in positions at the University of Oxford and University of Edinburgh before moving to Brown University. After the talk, there will also be time for questions on archaeology in the UK.
